
According to the US Department of Justice, 29-year-old Jonathan Rinderknecht, residing in Florida, was arrested on suspicion of deliberately causing a major fire in Los Angeles in January. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The arrest took place on October 8. According to investigation data, Rinderknecht worked as an Uber driver and on January 1 set fire to trees on the Pacific Palisades tourist trail in the northern part of the city.
Initially, the fire area was small, but under the influence of strong winds, the fire spread rapidly. Approximately 93 square kilometers were damaged as a result of the fire.
This fire caused significant damage to Malibu along the Pacific Ocean, the Santa Monica Mountains, and surrounding areas. The incident resulted in 12 deaths and the destruction of over 6,800 buildings and structures.
Additional investigation is currently ongoing. Charges against Rinderknecht will be considered in court, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Rescue services recommend that the public act cautiously during the high fire risk season.
