Employees of the Tashkent City Beautification Department have captured a jackal that caused a stir among the capital's residents. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The predator was caught in the Mirzo Ulugbek district. According to the authorities, the jackal is in good health and will be handed over to the Tashkent Zoo in the coming days.
In recent weeks, photos and videos have circulated on social media showing the jackal freely roaming residential areas in the city center, particularly in the Darkhan neighborhood. Witnesses say the jackal did not attack people but hunted cats.
It is assumed that it was hungry. The Ecology Department is closely monitoring the situation.
The agency advises citizens not to approach the predator and to immediately report to emergency services if they see it. Animal protection activists link the appearance of the jackal to the mass extermination of stray dogs in the city.
According to them, dogs have been protecting the city’s natural environment from wild animals. Activists emphasize that after the dogs disappeared, wolves, jackals, and foxes have taken their place.
It is warned that this situation may lead to a disruption of the ecological balance. Therefore, it is important for officials and citizens to take precautionary measures for safety.
