US President Donald Trump has arrived in Japan on an official visit. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This visit is considered an important stage of his five-day trip to Asia. Trump's main goal is to reach an agreement with Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding the trade war.
During the first days of the trip, he signed a number of agreements on trade and critical minerals with four Southeast Asian countries in Malaysia. It was also reported that US and Chinese officials have reached a preliminary agreement to temporarily suspend customs tariffs.
This news created a positive mood in Asian markets. In Tokyo, Trump met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito.
He will also hold talks with the new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. Takaichi called strengthening cooperation with the US a key task of her government.
She will discuss with Trump the expansion of projects in trade, energy, and defense sectors. Japan promised Trump investments worth 550 billion dollars.
These funds will be directed towards the development of the country's energy, shipbuilding, and infrastructure sectors. Trump praised this initiative, calling Japan "the most reliable partner of the US."
In the coming days, Trump will travel to South Korea and hold a meeting with President Lee Jae-myung there. Then, on Thursday, he will negotiate with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
Experts believe this meeting could play an important role in reducing tensions in the trade war in Asia.
