A passenger joked about having a bomb in their hand luggage. This situation led to increased security measures at the airport and flights were temporarily suspended.
Airport staff immediately evacuated all passengers and cordoned off the area. Emergency services, including police, bomb disposal experts, and rescuers, quickly arrived at the scene and inspected the luggage.
As a result of the inspection, the threat was found to be false and the airport resumed its operations. No one was injured, but several flights were delayed.
According to the press service of Kazakhstan's transport police, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 273 of the Criminal Code regarding this incident. This article concerns the dissemination of false information about terrorist acts.
The police statement said that airport operations have returned to normal. There are no victims or injured persons.
