The storm brought heavy rain and strong winds to Portugal and Spain for several days before reaching Britain and Ireland. In Portugal, rescuers found the bodies of an elderly couple trapped inside a flooded house in the town of Fernao Ferro.
A tornado occurred in southern Portugal, killing an 85-year-old British woman and injuring 28 people. Two of them were hospitalized.
Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa expressed condolences to the relatives of the deceased woman and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. In Britain, severe flooding in Monmouth and surrounding areas caused significant damage to houses, vehicles, and electricity supply.
Fire and rescue services in Wales continue evacuation efforts. Eleven flood warnings have been issued in Wales, four of which are classified as serious.
In England, 49 flood warnings and 134 precautionary measures have been announced. Aerial footage clearly shows city centers and residential areas flooded.
