Stubb: Russia's move at the summit was a strategic mistake
Finnish President Alexander Stubb called Russia's actions regarding the planned US summit in Hungary a "major strategic mistake." This was reported by Zamin.uz.

In an interview with the Associated Press agency, he elaborated on the political situation and diplomatic issues behind the event. According to President Stubb, the main reason for the sharp turn in the situation was a phone conversation between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

After this conversation, Washington officials understood that Russia had no intention of yielding, and under such circumstances, US President Donald Trump could not reach an agreement. The Finnish leader assessed this situation as a significant missed opportunity for Russia.

He said: "Russia had the opportunity to ease the situation, but they failed to take advantage of it. This was another strategic mistake."

Meanwhile, the Kremlin expressed its position on this matter. Russian President's aide Yuri Ushakov commented on the circulated reports, denying Lavrov's "disappearance" or rumors surrounding the summit.

According to him, Moscow and Washington remain committed to the positions agreed upon at the earlier meeting in Anchorage. At the same time, the new negotiation process has been postponed indefinitely.

Political observers believe this indicates that relations between the two countries may remain complicated for the coming weeks or months. It is still unclear how the processes will develop, but the Finnish leader's statements may lead to new debates in the international diplomatic arena.
