Following the incident involving the death of tourists in Istanbul, 11 people have been detained. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The IHA news agency reported on this matter. According to initial information, as part of the investigation into the death of the Bojek family from Germany, Istanbul police closed the Harbour Suites hotel and conducted a thorough inspection.
According to official information, among those detained are an employee of a disinfection company and two hotel workers. The incident occurred on November 12.
The German tourists — a father, mother, and two children — were admitted to the hospital with symptoms of vomiting and feeling unwell but were discharged to return home the same day. The following day, the two children, aged three and six, passed away, and the mother died one day later.
The father is currently in critical condition in the hospital's intensive care unit. Sources close to the investigation suggest that the hotel’s water system or chemicals used during the disinfection process might be the cause.
However, these assumptions have not yet been officially confirmed. The Harbour Suites hotel does not have a kitchen and only provides drinking water.
For this reason, the investigation is currently focused mainly on water sources. The incident has attracted significant attention in both Istanbul and German media.
The German embassy is closely monitoring the situation and has demanded an official medical examination in cooperation with local authorities. So far, no official statement has been made regarding the exact causes of the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
