Today, Ukrainian boxing star Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the WBC, WBA, WBO, IBO, and The Ring championship belts in the heavyweight division, recalled an interesting and unexpected event during his interview with renowned British journalist Piers Morgan.
In this conversation, the champion reminisced about his childhood and spoke about an extraordinary incident that occurred at that time. According to Usyk, he was just an ordinary village boy in his youth, spending much of his time in nature and engaging in simple village tasks. During this time, he experienced a remarkable and very impactful event.
“I was just a simple boy doing farming and livestock work. One day, while I was working outdoors, I accidentally walked by a horse. At that moment, unexpectedly, the horse suddenly struck me hard on the head. From that moment on, I lost consciousness and was knocked out,” Usyk recalls those days.
The Ukrainian champion humorously remembered this incident as his first 'knockout,' noting that this episode contributed to his resilience in facing many challenges in his later life.
It is worth mentioning that Oleksandr Usyk is currently considered one of the leading athletes in the heavyweight category of professional boxing. He will face IBF champion Daniel Dubois in his next fight on July 19. In this match, Usyk aims to take another step towards becoming the undisputed champion across all divisions.
Fans are eagerly anticipating this fight, and Usyk is preparing diligently to defend his titles.
