The military wing of the HAMAS movement officially confirmed on December 29 that one of its leading representatives in the Gaza Strip, Abu Obeyda, has been killed. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This information was announced by the group on its Telegram channel. Earlier, Israeli officials had stated that Abu Obeyda was killed several months ago as a result of an airstrike.
The statement recognized Abu Obeyda as one of HAMAS's key representatives and paid tribute to his memory. He served as the main spokesperson for the movement, delivering important statements during the war and providing the public with information regarding prisoner exchanges.
Abu Obeyda was born in 1985 in the Jabaliya area of the Gaza Strip. From a young age, he joined HAMAS and later worked within the military wing of the movement.
Abu Obeyda was known for always appearing in public with his face covered. According to Israeli sources, Abu Obeyda was killed in an airstrike on Gaza in August 2024.
Israel has emphasized since October 2023 that its goal is to eliminate the HAMAS leadership. Analysts note that Abu Obeyda's death may impact the situation in Gaza.
