Due to heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions in Turkey, schools in 48 provinces of the country have been temporarily closed. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Local government officials have officially announced this. On January 2, educational institutions were suspended in some areas of the provinces of Osmaniye, Sakarya, Kocaeli, and Konya, as well as in the Şişli, Sarıyer, and Beykoz districts of Istanbul.
The heavy snowfall is seriously affecting not only the educational process but also overall safety. Official warnings have been issued regarding the risk of avalanches in Diyarbakır, Kastamonu, and other regions.
The most severe situation was observed in Artvin province. There, six shepherds were trapped under an avalanche.
During rescue operations, three shepherds were saved, two died. Search efforts for one more person were temporarily halted due to the sharp deterioration of weather conditions.
Local authorities are urging citizens to be cautious and to avoid going outside unless necessary. At the same time, rescue services are operating in a state of readiness for emergencies.
