OnePlus CEO accused of illegal hiring

On January 13, the Taiwanese prosecutor's office issued an arrest warrant for OnePlus co-founder and CEO Pete Lau. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Local official sources reported this. According to the investigation, Pete Lau is accused of illegally hiring local engineers in Taiwan.
According to current legislation, Chinese companies must obtain special permission from the Taiwanese government before hiring Taiwanese specialists. Investigators believe that OnePlus did not comply with this requirement.
The Taiwanese government aims to prevent the departure of highly qualified personnel from the country through such measures. For this reason, especially in recent years, control over the activities of Chinese companies has been strengthened.
It is worth noting that OnePlus is a Chinese smartphone manufacturing company and is a division of the Oppo corporation. The company was established in December 2013 and quickly secured its place in the global market.
