ChatGPT banned in Kazakhstan: civil servants now only use local artificial intelligence!
Significant changes have been made regarding the use of artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan. The use of the ChatGPT system by civil servants has been officially banned in the country. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, Qanish Toleushin.

According to him, a ministry order has been approved to restrict the use of ChatGPT by employees of state agencies in the process of performing their duties. The main reason for implementing such a measure is the risk of confidential information leaking abroad.

Following this decision, civil servants working in state agencies and organizations have been proposed to use a local artificial intelligence solution developed by scientists from Nazarbayev University. This system, developed by local specialists, is hosted securely and privately on servers, minimizing the risk of data leakage.

Qanish Toleushin emphasized that transitioning to local artificial intelligence is not only important from a security standpoint but also a necessary step for developing expertise and competencies in this field within the country.

At the same time, the deputy minister acknowledged that there is currently no way to determine which artificial intelligence platform was used to perform a specific task. Nevertheless, it is expected that the monitoring system in state organizations will be strengthened and serious measures will be taken to implement this ban.

According to reports, some local specialists have expressed various opinions regarding this decision. While some view it as a necessary step for the country's security, others discuss the negative impacts of distancing from global technologies.

Regardless, Kazakhstan's decision may be an important step towards achieving independence in the field of artificial intelligence, encouraging local talents, and ensuring the country's security.
