Political tensions between the US and Cuba have risen to a new level

The geopolitical situation in the North and Central American region has unexpectedly escalated. Zamin.uz reported on this.
The long-standing chill and political contradictions between the White House administration and the Cuban leadership have reached a new stage. According to a statement by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Cuba currently poses a direct and serious threat to the country's national security.
Consequently, the possibilities of reaching a peace agreement and restoring diplomatic relations between official Washington and Havana are assessed as very low. These concerning reports are being widely covered by prestigious international media outlets.
Washington's sharp stance is based on certain grounds. Recently, the US justice system officially announced murder charges against the former leader of Cuba, Raul Castro.
This case is related to a tragedy that occurred in 1996, when two aircraft belonging to a humanitarian organization were shot down by the Cuban military in international airspace. As a result, three citizens of the United States perished.
Years later, Washington now accuses 94-year-old Raul Castro of directly ordering this attack. Secretary of State Marco Rubio specifically emphasized that President Donald Trump has all legal measures, including the right to use military force, to protect his country and citizens from any foreign threats.
Despite this, the official representative noted that diplomatic negotiations remain the primary way to regulate relations between the two states. However, he did not hide that reaching an agreement with the current political regime in Cuba in the near future would be difficult.
Furthermore, the US side accused the Cuban leadership of supporting international terrorism in the region. In turn, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez issued a sharp denial of these accusations.
He called Washington's statements groundless and far from the truth. According to the head of Cuba's foreign policy department, such actions are aimed at inciting military aggression in the region.
Rodriguez emphasized that official Washington has been exerting unfair economic and political pressure on the Cuban people for many years, assessing this situation as an attack on sovereignty.
