The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has predicted the consequences of the US halting military aid to Ukraine.
Analysts believe that this could lead to an escalation of Russian aggression, the occupation of new territories, and destabilization of the entire region. Significant damage to the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army is expected.
"Halting US military and financial assistance aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense industry could alter the balance of the war and give Russia a significant advantage on the battlefield, increasing Moscow's chances of victory," the ISW report states.
It has been repeatedly emphasized that if arms deliveries from Washington are not continued, the Ukrainian army could find itself in a difficult situation. Currently, political disagreements in the US and President Vladimir Zelensky's conflict with Donald Trump are hindering the approval of a new aid package for Kyiv.
Against this backdrop, experts warn that if military support for Ukraine is halted, the consequences will be serious not only for Kyiv but for the entire European security system.
Assistance to Ukraine could be immediately canceled
All US assistance to Ukraine, including arms and equipment deliveries authorized during Joe Biden's presidency, could be immediately canceled. This was stated by an official representative of the Trump administration to The New York Times.
According to Pentagon data, approximately $3.85 billion remains from the funds that Congress has authorized for the Defense Department's reserves. The last batch of weapons purchased by Ukraine from US defense companies is expected to be delivered within the next six months. After that, Europe itself will have to support Ukraine.
Following the Oval Office conflict, a representative of the Trump administration indicated that the president might decide to halt indirect assistance provided by the US. This assistance includes other types of military funding, intelligence sharing, training for Ukrainian soldiers and pilots, and the placement of a communication center to manage international assistance at a US military base in Germany.
"Such actions would represent a remarkable withdrawal from a partner state in a dire situation, indicating the end of support," the publication emphasized.
