According to US President Donald Trump, Coca-Cola has agreed to use real cane sugar instead of corn syrup in its products sold in the USA. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by the BBC. Trump stated in his post on Truth Social that he discussed the type of sugar in beverages with Coca-Cola and that the company accepted this proposal.
He positively assessed this decision and expressed confidence that it would improve product quality. A company representative has not officially confirmed this change, but promised to appreciate the president's interest and share news in the near future.
Currently, Coca-Cola beverages in the USA are mainly made with corn syrup, while in other countries, cane sugar is used. The company's CEO James Quinsey stated in April that they are working on reducing the sugar content in beverages and updating recipes.
However, this decision could pose a threat to the corn industry in the USA. John Bode, head of the Corn Refiners Association, said this change could lead to the loss of thousands of jobs and a decrease in farmers' income.
He emphasized that cane sugar is not beneficial for health either. Additionally, Health Secretary Robert F.
Kennedy Jr. and his "Make America Healthy Again" movement are demanding the removal of corn syrup, artificial colors, and other harmful substances from products. It is worth noting that Donald Trump loves his Diet Coke and during his presidency, a special button was installed in the White House to frequently supply him with this beverage.
