The era of independence in European defense has begun
Important changes are taking place regarding the new era in European security. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Countries on the continent are now trying to strengthen their defense capabilities independently, without relying solely on the United States. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized this issue in an interview with the BBC.

According to him, in light of the new threats coming from Russia, Europe is forced to allocate significant funds to ensure defense and security. Chancellor Merz noted that the peace, freedom, and political stability of the European population remain under serious threat from Russia.

In his opinion, Russia's threats are directed not only at Ukraine but also at the peace and political order of all of Europe. For this reason, Germany and other major European countries are significantly increasing their defense spending.

Merz has officially laid the groundwork for this process by proposing amendments to the Constitution. Acknowledging that the current strength of the army is insufficient, the German Chancellor emphasized the need to allocate more funds for defense.

He also criticized the insufficient funds allocated by the United States for European defense. According to Merz, as the US foreign policy is focusing more on the Asian region, Europe needs to increase its independent responsibility for its security.

Recently, European countries have been taking significant steps to reduce dependence on the US and strengthen mutual defense cooperation. In particular, the leaders of Britain and Germany reached an important agreement to assist each other in the event of a military attack.

This will serve to strengthen the security system in Europe. The potential attack of Russia on European countries and new threats to NATO have been widely discussed in recent weeks.

Leading experts, such as the NATO Secretary General, the head of German intelligence, and the head of the Munich Security Conference, emphasize that Moscow's aggressive policy has entered a dangerous phase. They believe that if Vladimir Putin achieves a complete victory in Ukraine, an even greater threat will emerge for Europe.

According to Christoph Heusgen, Putin considers the collapse of the Soviet Union and the remaining Russians outside of Russia as a great tragedy of the 20th century. If he is not defeated in Ukraine, his influence could also extend to Moldova or the Baltic states.

At the same time, Putin warned that "major decisions" would be made when strikes are carried out on Russian territory with Western weapons. Currently, a new phase of cooperation in the field of security is beginning between Europe and the United States.

The necessity to jointly combat Russian threats has become the most important topic in European politics. This requires new strategic approaches to ensure the continent's security.
