Which cars are the best-selling in the world?

Leading countries in light vehicle sales

Last year, light vehicle sales decreased in countries like Japan, Germany, and France, while they sharply increased in countries like China, India, and Brazil.
Most sold car brands

Last year, BYD car sales increased by nearly 27 percent. Significant growth was also observed in the sales of Chevrolet (+8.2 percent), Mercedes (+5.8 percent), and Toyota (+3.4 percent). In contrast, sales of Ford (-3.7 percent), Honda (-2.1), and Volkswagen (-0.6) decreased.
Most sold car models

In 2024, the most sold car worldwide was the Tesla Model Y. A total of 1.15 million units of this electric vehicle were purchased.
The second place was taken by the Toyota Corolla. During the last year, 1.13 million units of this model were sold. Notably, two more Toyota models made it into the top 10. Specifically, in 2024, the Toyota RAV4 ranked third (sales – 1.02 million units), while the Toyota Camry was recorded in eighth place (sales – 580 thousand). In 2024, 10 out of every 100 cars sold were produced by Toyota.
The fourth and fifth places were taken by the Ford F-Series (sales – 900 thousand units) and Honda CR-V (sales – 740 thousand units) models.

The highest car sales in the last decade were observed in 2017 – 94.5 million units. Although car sales significantly increased last year, this figure remains lower compared to the pre-pandemic period.

Uzbekistan's automotive industry
According to the statistics committee, in 2024, 424,808 light vehicles were produced in Uzbekistan. The most produced models in this regard were:
- Cobalt – 164,887 units;
- Damas – 101,902 units;
- Tracker – 45,918 units.
Last year, the number of cars sold in the country amounted to 402,391 units. During the reporting period, UzAuto Motors delivered 353,730 units, ADM Jizzakh 30,329 units, BYD Uzbekistan Factory 17,132 units, Asaka Motors 489 units, Jizzakh Auto 394 units, and SamAuto 317 units to buyers.
In 2024, the market share of companies in the domestic market is as follows:
- UzAuto Motors – 87.9 percent;
- ADM Jizzakh – 7.5 percent;
- BYD Uzbekistan Factory – 4.3 percent;
- Jizzakh Auto – 0.1 percent;
- Asaka Motors – 0.1 percent;
- SamAuto – 0.1 percent.
