The presentation of the UzPride special modification of the Song Plus DM-i hybrid crossover took place at the BYD Uzbekistan Factory in Jizzakh region. This was reported by Upl.uz.
This modification was developed taking into account the needs of the local market. The main feature of the innovation is the world's first voice control system that operates entirely in the Uzbek language.
As the most popular model of the Song Plus brand, the localization project was implemented quickly. The UzPride modification was developed over 14 months, although initially, three years were planned for this.
Within the localization program, 17 types of spare parts began to be produced in Uzbekistan. These include bumpers, car windows, seats, noise insulation materials, plastic fuel tanks, and interior and exterior decorative elements.
The introduction of an intelligent assistant speaking Uzbek is the result of extensive data collection and processing. According to Li Min, the first deputy director general of BYD Uzbekistan Factory, more than 1.5 million speech recordings were used to train the neural network.
This large database allowed the system to adapt to various dialects, pronunciation features, and speech habits of drivers across the country. Ivan Cao, deputy general director of BYD Central Asia, emphasized that the artificial intelligence assistant has the ability to self-learn during use, making communication with the car more natural and efficient over time.
He also noted that the car assembly at the Jizzakh plant is carried out in strict compliance with the global quality standards applied at all BYD enterprises in China. Commenting on the company's strategy, Ivan Cao said: “Local cars, local production, local language, local financing, and service – this is what truly makes this project local.”
Uzbekistan's production development is part of the company's comprehensive strategy aimed at strengthening its position in the local market. Local partners such as Avtooyna, Uzdongyang, Uz-Koram-Co, O‘zAuto-Austem, Uz Tong Heung Company, Uz-Hanwoo, and YAPP UBK Auto System actively participate in production.
Ivan Cao confirmed BYD's intention to continue deepening technologies and expanding production capacities. This is based on the principle of “From Uzbekistan to Uzbekistan.”
Additionally, the company’s management shared plans to expand the range of car models offered in the country. Currently, the possibility of launching the Bao 5 and Bao 8 crossovers under the Fang Cheng Bao sub-brand in Uzbekistan is being considered.
It is estimated that these cars may enter the market by the end of 2025 or early 2026. The Blade Battery used in BYD cars, including models assembled in Uzbekistan, offers high safety and durability.
It successfully passed the toughest safety tests known as the “mix test.” In this test, the battery is pierced with a metal object, simulating a short circuit.
Unlike many similar batteries, the Blade Battery did not catch fire or explode.
