Driving a car in Russian conditions is not easy — harsh winters, heat waves, poor roads, and fuel quality can quickly lead to breakdowns. However, according to expert Dmitriy Novikov from SpeedMe.ru, your car can be kept in good condition with 5 simple actions, as reported by SpeedMe.ru.
1) Wash the body frequently. Especially in winter, salt and dust can damage the paint. It is recommended to apply anti-corrosion treatment every two years.
2) Change the oil and filters on time. Refresh the engine oil every 8,000 to 10,000 km. Use low-viscosity oil in cold weather. Don't forget about the air and fuel filters.
3) Don't strain the engine in cold weather. Especially for turbo engines, it is beneficial to let the engine run idle for a few minutes before stopping.
4) Change the oils in other components as well. The automatic transmission, differential, and transfer case should not be overlooked. Refresh every 50,000 to 60,000 km.
5) Check the battery in winter. Avoid overloading the electrical system. Turn on the air conditioning once a month.
