Car sales in Uzbekistan have grown significantly over two months

Significant growth and structural changes have been observed in Uzbekistan's automotive market during the first two months of the current year. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to information provided by Uzavtosanoat, during January and February, a total of 57,512 cars were handed over to their owners through trading outlets in our country. This indicator is 14.1 percent higher compared to the corresponding period last year.
Market analysis shows that buyers' interest is increasingly shifting from traditional models towards electric vehicles, hybrid-powered transport and modern crossovers. A slight decrease in market share was observed for the local manufacturer UzAuto Motors.
In particular, sales of the Cobalt and Damas models, which had been considered the most purchased for many years, have decreased. Also, the demand for such higher-category cars as Malibu, Captiva, Equinox and Traverse failed to maintain its previous level.
Of the company's ten main models, positive sales growth was recorded for only four — Tracker, Onix, Labo and Tahoe. As a result, the company's overall market share decreased from last year's 82.4 percent to 79.3 percent.
At the same time, a sharp rise is noticeable in the segment of foreign brands and vehicles powered by new energy sources. In particular, sales of the BYD brand's Yuan Up model have grown more than sixfold.
This brand's share in the market has reached 8 percent, and the number of cars sold has exceeded 4,600 units. The ADM Jizzakh enterprise, which delivers brands such as Kia, Chery and Haval, has also strengthened its position and managed to increase its sales volume to more than 7,200 units.
Changes in the market confirm that Uzbek buyers are now gaining the opportunity for a wider choice. Among models not belonging to the Chevrolet brand, the Kia Sonet has been recognized as the most sold car.
Overall, the country's automotive market is becoming increasingly competitive. As a result of growing consumer interest in new technologies and economical means of transport, even greater diversity in the structure of the market is expected in the near future.
