A system of penalty points for traffic violations is being introduced

In Uzbekistan, an important innovation is being introduced with the aim of ensuring road traffic safety and increasing the responsibility of drivers. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Starting from 1 April 2026, an updated mechanism for detecting cases of traffic rule violations will be put into operation on the roads of our country. According to this procedure, violations recorded through special automated photo and video devices installed on roads will from now on be specifically taken into account in the drivers' overall system of penalty points.
These measures will serve to strengthen discipline on the roads and to prevent unfortunate situations connected with human life. In accordance with the latest amendments to the current legislation, penalty points will be charged to the driver not only when violations of road traffic rules are identified directly by traffic patrol service staff but also when detected with the help of modern surveillance cameras.
This system encourages drivers to be vigilant in any situation and to strictly comply with the established norms. At the same time, the new rules also detail the mechanism for the fair distribution and calculation of penalty points, which makes it possible to clearly define legal responsibility.
One of the most important aspects of the new procedure is that if at the time of the violation the car was driven not by its official owner but by another person, responsibility is placed directly on that driver. In this case, based on documents such as a power of attorney, an insurance policy or a road waybill issued by the enterprise, the person driving the vehicle is identified, and penalty points are applied specifically to the violator.
Such an approach ensures fair responsibility on the roads and at the same time guarantees that each driver is personally accountable for their own actions. These reforms in the traffic system will be an important step in raising the legal culture of drivers.
The integration of the automated system with the penalty points will help to significantly reduce disorder on the roads. Every road user must deeply feel their responsibility and must not forget that they are responsible not only for their own safety but also for the safety of others.
These changes will serve in the long term to shape a safe environment on the roads of our country.
