Xiaomi is losing $900 on each SU7 electric vehicle
Xiaomi's automotive division reported a loss of 500 million yuan (approximately 69 million dollars) in the first quarter of 2025, according to Auto.Mail.ru. Nevertheless, the company is increasing deliveries and plans to turn a profit in the coming months. Currently, each SU7 electric vehicle is costing the company approximately 6500 yuan or 900 dollars in losses.

In the first quarter, Xiaomi delivered approximately 76,000 SU7 models to customers. According to company leader Lu Weibing, the car project is still in its early stages. While each car caused a loss of 9200 dollars in 2024, this figure has decreased nearly tenfold in a year.

Xiaomi is hoping to reduce losses by expanding production. Additionally, a new crossover model — the YU7 — will be introduced in the future, which is generating three times more interest compared to the SU7.

Xiaomi has also changed the power limitation policy for the SU7 Ultra model. Previously, reaching 1548 horsepower was only allowed for those who had trained on a special track. However, this requirement has now been lifted following customer complaints.
