Ford is testing the updated Mondeo sedan, according to Auto.Mail.ru. This model was previously popular in Europe and the USA (under the name Fusion), but it exited these markets due to the rise of crossovers. The last Mondeo for Europe was produced in 2022 at a factory in Spain.
However, the Ford Mondeo has not been completely discontinued — a 5th generation sedan was introduced for the Chinese market in 2022. The company is currently testing its updated version, which has been photographed by paparazzi.
The main changes in the exterior are at the front of the car. The previous Mondeo had "two-tier" headlights, which were not very popular with buyers. In the updated version, the headlights are simpler, with the main distinguishing feature being the LED daytime running lights arranged in a chessboard pattern.
Additionally, the rear lights and bumpers will also be slightly updated. The door handles will remain hidden as before. Major changes are not expected in the interior — the main focus will be on the 27-inch wide screen.
Technically, the current Mondeo is conservative, offered with 1.5 and 2-liter EcoBoost gasoline engines as well as hybrid versions. The official presentation is expected to take place by the end of 2025
