BYD company launches a new hybrid pickup for the European market

The famous Chinese automaker BYD has officially introduced its first hybrid pickup, the BYD Shark, to the UK and European markets. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This vehicle is attracting the attention of specialists not only for commercial use but also for its sports-car-like acceleration and high efficiency. According to industry experts, the new model is expected to enter into serious competition with the Ford Ranger PHEV, which has been a market leader for many years.
The BYD Shark model is equipped with a modern Super Hybrid system, which includes a four-cylinder gasoline engine and electric motors located on each axle. The system's total power is 430 horsepower, a figure significantly higher than that of the Ford model.
The pickup is capable of outperforming many popular sports hatchbacks in terms of dynamic characteristics. The car accelerates from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in just 5.7 seconds.
From a technical capability standpoint, a battery with a capacity of 32.2 kilowatt-hours is located under the floor of the vehicle. This allows it to travel nearly 90 kilometers using electric power alone.
This figure is nearly double that of its main competitors. Additionally, the ability to charge the battery in a short time via special fast-charging stations provides extra convenience for users.
The BYD Shark model features the ability to operate in parallel and series hybrid modes. In the first case, the internal combustion engine and electric motors provide movement together, while in the second case, the gasoline engine acts only as a generator to recharge the power source.
The manufacturer notes that the pickup's total torque is 650 Newton-meters, which gives it a significant advantage over traditional diesel-engine competitors. The new model is also distinguished by its reliability in off-road conditions.
It includes special driving modes for complex terrains such as sand, mud, snow, and gravel. Furthermore, the car has an external power supply function, allowing various electrical tools and equipment to be powered by its battery.
This feature is very useful on construction sites or when relaxing in nature. However, there are some limitations regarding the vehicle's load capacity.
The BYD Shark's cargo bed can carry up to 790 kilograms, which may not be sufficient to obtain commercial vehicle status according to the legislation of some countries. Nevertheless, the car's interior is enriched with the most modern technologies.
A large digital instrument panel, a rotating touchscreen, and a camera system providing a 360-degree view are included as standard equipment. Given the popularity of this brand in the Uzbekistan market, the new pickup could potentially find its place in our region in the future.
