Horse supercar technology adapted for everyday cars

Horse Powertrain, a joint venture between Geely and Renault Group, has made a major breakthrough in the automotive industry, as reported by Zamin.uz.
The company’s specialists have succeeded in adapting a technology typically used only in the most expensive and fastest supercars for use in ordinary vehicles. This new type of hybrid power unit is designed to significantly improve vehicle efficiency.
Details of this development were announced by influential publications. The key feature of the new technology is its axial-flux electric motor.
While most electric and hybrid vehicles today use drum-shaped motors, Horse’s proposed device has a flat and compact design. This configuration allows the motor to be much smaller in size while significantly increasing its power output.
It is worth noting that this motor is nearly half the length of its conventional counterparts, making it easy to install in tight spaces such as the transmission area.
Despite its compact size, the unit produces more power than much larger traditional engines. Currently, such motors are rare and mainly found in famous hypercars like Ferrari and Lamborghini.
However, Horse is not using this technology to achieve higher speeds, but rather to save space and improve energy efficiency, which also expands the possibilities for hybrid vehicles.
The new power system operates on the basis of a range-extender hybrid setup. The two-liter engine in the system does not directly drive the wheels but is used solely to generate electricity.
What’s particularly interesting is that this engine runs on methanol instead of gasoline. According to the company’s calculations, recharging the battery using methanol is far more efficient and cost-effective.
Although this fuel type is not yet widely available on the global market, interest in it is very high in large countries such as China. Company leadership emphasizes that the worldwide transition to fully electric vehicles will still take a long time.
Therefore, developing hybrid technologies is the right way to reduce the environmental impact currently being caused. This new technology is expected to be incorporated into affordable models produced under the Geely and Renault brands in the near future.
This will also give ordinary drivers access to high-tech and fuel-efficient transportation.
