The ugly end of a beautiful life and the happiness found on the second attempt: singer Rukhshona is 31 years old

Singer Ruxshona celebrated her 31st birthday on March 21. The singer, who always appears happy, has her own problems and regrets. What do you know about a creative person who grew up with childhood traumas, started working early, and faced a series of failures in her personal life?

"I was a happy child until I was 12"

The singer, born on the day of Navruz, is the only child in her family. Her parents divorced during her childhood, and her mother raised her alone.

— Until I was twelve, I was a happy child who felt my father's love. But for some reason, during those years, my parents started to argue a lot. The arguments would often end with my mother being beaten. One day, I overheard a conversation my mother was having on the phone. She was crying and saying, “My wife is sick, she has only 6 months left to live. I took care of the children, but once she got better, he completely ignored us. On top of that, he married another woman.” That’s when I understood why my dad was so quiet. He wouldn’t spend money on household needs, and when my mom asked, he would yell, “Which one of you do you want me to give it to?” One day, after my dad said, “I’m coming here for you, not for you,” I found the strength to shout, “If you’re living here against your will, then you might as well get divorced, just don’t argue.” Because the arguments had made me sick of life, the singer said in one of her interviews.

"When they ask where I'm from, I hesitate"

The singer recalls that her love for art came from her mother, but due to the family's financial situation, she couldn't attend any music clubs.

— I have always been a confidante and a friend to my mother. A mother relies on her daughter, and the daughter considers her mother to be her best confidante. My mother always supports me, and I thank her for that. My father is originally from Samarkand and worked in the military. My mother is from Namangan on my father's side, and my grandmother is from Piskent. In short, when they ask, “Where are you from?” I hesitate. My interest in art was undoubtedly due to my mother. She took me to clubs from childhood and developed my small talent. However, my mother did not have the financial means to support my independent creativity.

One day, my dad mentioned that he would take me to school in his car. I was very happy and got into the car. Before he got out for an urgent matter, I saw a lot of money in the box next to the seat. However, at that time, my dad didn’t want to give me any money for school needs. There was no way to talk about clubs, Ruxshona says.

"The kindergarten director deceived me"

The singer recalls that after her parents divorced, her family fell into financial hardship, and she also started working.

— I started working very early. My first job was at a kindergarten. I worked as a cleaner there, and then I was assigned to change diapers. But the salary was very low. Because I was a chubby girl, they thought I was older, so I got a job at a café. I was doing well, but one day a very ugly incident happened. The guys celebrating a birthday asked me for the bill, then counted the money and threw it at me. Unable to tolerate such disrespect, I hit one of them on the head with the tray and ran away. After that incident, I couldn’t work at the café anymore.

I returned to the kindergarten. The deputy director told me that the cleaner's position was filled and asked me to teach the children piano and music. We agreed on a salary of only 30,000 soums a month. However, after three months of work, she didn’t pay me. When I asked, she said, “Who were you? I don’t know you.” I came home crying that day. Because school was supposed to start in ten days, I had planned to buy school supplies with that money, says singer Ruxshona.

"I spent our last money to go to the casting"

The singer recalls spending the last money in the household to participate in a casting, and that Jahongir Ortiqxo‘jayev also listened to her song.

— One day, my friend called and told me about some casting. When I called the number she gave me, the secretary said the casting would end in half an hour. I called my mom and told her about my intention to go to the casting. “Okay, my child, go and see, everything will be fine,” she said. But the problem was that if I took the bus, I would be late. So, I took the last 15,000 soums that should last until the end of the month and said I would go by taxi.

When I arrived at the specified location, there was a group of artists, and Jahongir Ortiqxo‘jayev was also there. I sang songs in Russian and English for them. “Do you know any Uzbek songs, my girl?” Jahongir Ortiqxo‘jayev asked. I only knew one song by Feruza Jumaniyozova called “Jang-jang.” I sang that and returned home with great hopes. A few days later, I was informed that I had successfully passed the casting. At that time, there was no one happier than me. Back then, all the casting participants brought their passports, but I only had my birth certificate because I was only 15 years old, says Ruxshona.

Successful songs and films

Ruxshona, who started her career in 2010, did not have a difficult "rise." Her first song, titled “Yuragim,” was a success, and she became a face of many films like the stars of all production companies.

— At that time, it became fashionable for singers to act in films. I acted in films like “Shomurod and Durdona,” “Enagalar,” and “Zamonaviy sovchilar.” These films, to some extent, found their audience, says singer Ruxshona.

"Later, you might be ashamed of what you did"

The years 2010-2011 were successful for the singer. She sang a duet with the famous foreign singer Avraam Russo and shot a music video. However, the singer still expresses her embarrassment about this song and has not posted it on her official pages.

— When you are young, you work without thinking about tomorrow. You don’t think about what you will tell your children if you start a family and have kids. But later, you might be ashamed of this work. Now I am ashamed of this song, and that’s why I haven’t posted it on my official pages. It has been a long time since I listened to it. Eventually, you will be ashamed of your children, says singer Ruxshona.

"My mother was worried"

Ruxshona married quite early compared to her peers. She was 20 years old when she got married, yet she found her place in creativity, and her songs became quite popular among young people. Now she does not want to talk about her ex-husband Sanjar Matkarimov, but she used to talk passionately about why she married that person.

— We had known each other for a long time because I knew he made good music videos. I followed his work. However, we kept this a secret for a long time. That’s why we didn’t meet in restaurants or entertainment places. There was a bridge next to my parental home, and our first meeting and wedding proposal were there. At first, my mother was a bit worried, but after talking to Sanjar, she agreed to our wedding, says singer Ruxshona.

A successful marriage that ended sadly

The couple's first child, Habiba, was born in 2015, and their son, Shukurbek, was born in 2016. Their marriage was successful for both of them. The singer shot music videos for songs like “Yurakkinam,” “Yana,” “Imkon bo‘lsa,” and “Yur” with her husband. The show “Bola tilidan,” hosted by Ruxshona, was recognized several times as the highest-rated show among television channels. Sanjar Matkarimov played a role in Ruxshona's “Yurakkinam” music video, showcasing his acting skills. Unfortunately, this was the last creative work of the couple.

A broken family...

Singer Ruxshona announced in October 2021 that she had divorced her husband, director Sanjar Matkarimov. After that, she also left her role as the host of the show “Bola tilidan.” Soon after, actress Aziza Yoqubova began hosting the show. During this time, rumors spread that Aziza was the reason for Ruxshona and Sanjar Matkarimov's divorce. One of the bloggers spread an audio that did not actually belong to Aziza, claiming that Aziza Yoqubova had broken Ruxshona's family. Aziza Yoqubova sought out the blogger to make him apologize publicly to put an end to these rumors.

Since the show featuring Ruxshona was well-received by many, viewers did not accept the subsequent hosts as well. As a result, the hosts changed one after another, or for other reasons, they did not want to continue working.

"Her husband was very jealous"

Singer Nigora Mirsodiqova also talked about the broken family of clipmaker Sanjar Matkarimov and singer Ruxshona in an interview on her YouTube channel.

— Her husband was very jealous, and Ruxshona is a beautiful woman. They wouldn’t let her go anywhere. I admire this girl; she never revealed anything about her family. Now, all the accumulated issues are coming out. But until now, there was never a complaint about her husband or mother-in-law. Her husband would say, “I’m jealous, you can’t go,” you understand, right? Even on our children’s birthdays, we would say, “Bring your children so they can get to know each other,” and we would get angry when she didn’t bring them. Then we would say to ourselves, “If the husband says yes, then yes, if no, then no.” We couldn’t do anything; we just stayed silent. He wouldn’t let her go many places; I know that, says the singer.

Unfortunately, the family built with great hopes fell apart. Before the divorce, Sanjar Matkarimov was sentenced to two years and one month of imprisonment for lightly injuring his wife and insulting her on social media. After that, videos related to the divorce and the children not wanting to see their father also caused a lot of controversy.

A second marriage...

Singer Ruxshona got married in 2024 with a grand wedding ceremony. The wedding night of Ulug‘bek and Ruxshona was held at one of the restaurants in the capital. Many famous representatives of Uzbek show business were present at the wedding.

After the wedding, the young couple went on a trip to the Salalah resort in Oman.

Ruxshona: “My dad hasn’t contacted me until now”

— I took a taxi when I didn’t have my own car. There was an old man next to me, a dark-skinned, shriveled man. When I looked closely, it was a man. Worry eats people away. I turned away. Now I am 30 years old, I got married, and I divorced. But until now, no one has come to me and said, “My daughter, your life hasn’t gone well, what happened?” I still wait for them to reach out. Of course, they can’t be a father to me now, but I felt that person’s love until I was 12. They pampered me and took me with them, calling me “my dear girl.” It seems that fate had it that my mother and that person’s life didn’t match, and divorce was written in my destiny. But I have my children. The interesting thing is that I grew up longing for a father’s love, and this has repeated in my children’s fate as well, says singer Ruxshona.
