On October 10, 2025, the new historical series "Chronicles of the Russian Revolution" by Andrey Konchalovsky was presented on the Start platform. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The series covers significant events in Russian history from 1905 to 1924. This epic drama reflects the collapse of the monarchy, the formation of new power, and the fate of people affected by the changes of that era.
The main characters of the series are played by Yura Borisov, Yuliya Vysotskaya, Yevgeniy Tkachuk, and Nikita Yefremov. More than 350 people were involved in the project, with many selected through public casting.
The series begins with events in Saint Petersburg in 1905. It tells the story of Mikhail Prokhorov (Yura Borisov), appointed by Nicholas II as the head of a special police unit to suppress revolutionary sentiments.
Mikhail Prokhorov is a monarchist officer who remains at the center of revolutionary movements. He witnesses events involving historical figures such as Rasputin, Stolypin, Gorky, Trotsky, and Lenin.
Prokhorov's main opponent is the revolutionary Lyuter, while the person who changes his life is Ariadna Slavin (Yuliya Vysotskaya). Ariadna is a woman of society and an active participant in the secret underground movement.
The series covers historical processes such as two revolutions, World War I, and the formation of the Soviet Union. Each episode shows how political decisions affect the lives of ordinary people.
The first episode depicts the protests of workers and peasants in the Russian Empire in 1905. Subsequent episodes portray Prokhorov's meeting with Ariadna, the February Revolution of 1917, events surrounding Stolypin and Rasputin, and the movements led by Lenin.
Filming began in September 2022 and was completed in August 2023. The work was carried out at the "Glavkino" and "Mosfilm" studios, as well as at historical locations.
More than a thousand people, including actors, decorators, and assistants, participated in the creation of the series. After the premiere, the Start platform and the "Engineer’s Gaze" bureau organized a tour titled "Moscow 1905–1924: Between the Throne and the Mausoleum."
Viewers had the opportunity to see the filming locations and sites related to the revolutionary period. The series became one of the most discussed premieres of November on the Kino-teatr.ru portal.
Audience opinions are divided; some acknowledge the scale and visual credibility of the series, while others criticize it for distorting historical truth. The portrayal of Lenin by Yevgeniy Tkachuk and the character Ariadna Slavin by Yuliya Vysotskaya received varied evaluations.
The series' ending is interpreted among viewers either as a call for reconciliation or as justifying adaptability.
