
Andijan city was declared the Capital of Turkic World Culture in 2026. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This decision was made at the 42nd meeting of the International TURKSOY Organization's Permanent Council held in Aktau, Kazakhstan. The meeting was attended by high-ranking ministers of culture and official representatives from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey.
During the meeting, the activities of TURKSOY in 2025 were thoroughly analyzed, and the plan of events scheduled for 2026 was discussed. Additionally, the necessity to implement the "Decision on the Development and Strengthening of TURKSOY" adopted by the Turkic States Organization in Gabala was emphasized.
Uzbekistan's Minister of Culture, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, expressed that this decision will enhance the international prestige of the organization. The selection of Andijan as the Capital of Turkic World Culture creates great opportunities.
Within this status, various cultural events and festivals will be organized in the city throughout the year. These events will serve to promote national culture on an international scale and also to increase tourism potential.
It is worth noting that in 2020, the city of Khiva was also declared the Capital of Turkic World Culture. This decision was warmly welcomed by the meeting participants, and the relevant documents were signed at the end.
