Oscar Wilde prison will be transformed into an art center

The former prison located in the city of Reading was purchased by the Ziran Educational Foundation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by the Weekend publication. This prison is historically known as the place where the famous writer Oscar Wilde served his sentence from 1895 to 1897.
Within the framework of the new project, the former prison is planned to be reorganized as a safe space for creatives. The foundation aims to open an art center and a boutique hotel in this area.
At the same time, while preserving the historical appearance of the prison, exhibition halls and creative studios are planned to be established inside. The foundation plans to present the reconstruction concept in the summer of this year.
As part of the project, architects aim to preserve the Victorian architectural style while harmonizing its heavy history with contemporary art. It is worth noting that Oscar Wilde's two-year life in this prison inspired his famous work "The Ballad of Reading Gaol."
