American actress Cameron Diaz acknowledged that her ten-year break from the film industry was the 'best years of her life.' She mentioned this on The Graham Norton Show during the show.
“I must say, I really enjoyed this break. The years I spent not filming were the best times of my life. I saw myself primarily as a mother and a wife, and I lived a very happy life,” said Diaz.
According to the actress, she is also pleased to return to the film industry. After a decade-long break, Diaz starred in the film “Back in Action” presented by Netflix.
Cameron Diaz wants to voice Fiona again in “Shrek 5.” She also stated that she would immediately agree to star in a sequel to the 1994 comedy “The Mask” if Jim Carrey participates as well.
Diaz emphasized that stepping away from the film industry allowed her to spend more time with her family and to rest mentally. After she began declining film roles, she continued to receive offers for several years. However, over time, the offers stopped coming.
After a long break, Diaz referred to returning to film as a “great opportunity”:
“If I let this slip away, my passion for creating films that bring laughter to people will fade. It would be foolish not to take advantage of this opportunity,” she said.

For reference, in 2018, Cameron Diaz decided to leave acting, expressing her desire to spend more time with her family. Diaz's social media profile now reflects that she is not just a star but a homemaker. The profile description lists “mother” first and “actress” second.
“When you are acting in films, it feels like you are fully owned. You work on set for 12 hours a day for several months. There is no time left for other things. I realized that I was giving a part of my life to other people. They were taking my life away. I just understood that I needed to take my life back, to take responsibility for my life,” Cameron explained.
