
Analysis of the demographic situation in Uzbekistan in the first half of 2025 showed that while the number of marriages decreased, the number of divorces significantly increased. This was reported by Upl.uz.
This information was provided by the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan. From January to June of this year, a total of 23,300 divorces were recorded across the republic.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of divorces increased by 800. Notably, the majority of divorces occurred in urban areas, amounting to 14,100, which constitutes 60.6 percent of all divorces.
In rural areas, 9,200 divorces were registered, which is equivalent to 39.4 percent. By region, the leading places in terms of divorces were occupied by Tashkent city with 1,500, Tashkent region with 1,200, and Fergana region with 1,200 cases.
The least number of divorces was recorded in Navoi region — 310. At the same time, despite the increase in the number of divorces, the number of new marriages in the first half of 2025 decreased by 2,100, totaling 95,300.
For comparison, in the same period of 2024, 97,400 marriages were recorded. Of the new marriages, 48,700, or 51.1 percent, were registered in cities, while 46,600, or 48.9 percent, were registered in rural areas.
