According to the press service of the Samarkand regional internal affairs department, a citizen suspected of illegal drug trafficking has been detained. This was reported by Upl.uz.
As a result of an operation conducted by internal affairs officials, based on previously obtained information, it was determined that a 71-year-old woman living in the "Namuna" neighborhood of the Ishtixon district was engaged in drug trafficking. The woman was arrested while selling drugs.
The amount being sold was 100,000 soums. During a search of her home, it was found that several dozen containers of marijuana were kept, totaling 5.5 kilograms of drugs seized.
A criminal case has been initiated under part 5 of article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan regarding this incident. This article provides for up to 20 years of imprisonment for illegal drug production, purchase, storage, and other actions directed towards trafficking.
Currently, investigative activities are ongoing.
