These specially trained predatory birds are an important part of the ornithological monitoring system, serving to reduce the risk of collisions between aircraft and birds.
Airport staff continuously monitor the movements of birds in the aerodrome area and their gathering places. When a potential threat is identified, specially trained cranes are quickly dispatched to the hazardous area.
The appearance of cranes triggers a self-defense instinct in other birds, forcing them to leave the dangerous area. As natural predators, cranes have a strong deterrent effect.
Different species of birds require different management strategies during various seasons of the year. In summer, small birds are more common, while in winter, the number of cranes increases.
Cranes are considered particularly intelligent and quickly adapt to auditory and visual deterrents. However, they still fear cranes, as their natural instinct drives them to be cautious of predators.
