According to the press service of the Tashkent city Internal Affairs Department, individuals suspected of illegal drug trafficking have been arrested. This was reported by Upl.uz.
In the Bektemir district, two suspicious individuals were stopped and checked by internal affairs officers. During the inspection, it was revealed that they were involved in drug distribution in the district and had placed hidden stashes in various locations.
A total of 44 packages containing various drugs were found and seized from the suspects. The criminals explained their actions by financial difficulties and necessity.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 273, Part 5 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan regarding this incident. The arrested individuals were detained in accordance with procedural rules, and they may face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
The internal affairs agencies continue to combat such crimes and are asking citizens to report any such incidents.
