An IIB officer who defended popcorn sellers was accused of bribery
A court ruling was read to a preventive inspector who took a bribe from a popcorn seller in Tashkent. The criminal case was reviewed at the Chilonzor district court.

According to the court documents reviewed by Kun.uz, Abdulaziz Abdullayev, born in 1992, had been working as a preventive inspector at the 2nd IIB HPB of the Internal Affairs Department of the Chilonzor district.

Using his official position, on August 24, 2024, Abdulaziz Abdullayev demanded 100,000 soums from a citizen engaged in popcorn sales in front of the Magic City park in exchange for not taking him to the IIB. The preventive inspector transferred the requested money to his own bank card.

Additionally, Abdulaziz Abdullayev told citizen A.N. that he would "protect" four of his employees engaged in popcorn sales around the Magic City park and the "Friendship of Peoples" art palace. This meant not taking any action against them, warning them in advance about raid activities, and promising to apply lenient penalties if they were caught. For this "service," he received 1.5 million soums as a bribe from citizen A.N. on September 13, 2024.

After that, citizen A.N. contacted the trust phone of the Personal Security Department of the Tashkent city department regarding the situation. Based on his appeal, personal security officers seized 1.5 million soums from the preventive inspector as material evidence on the same day.

In the court session, Abdulaziz Abdullayev did not admit his guilt. He claimed that the 1.5 million soums he received was actually his own investment in popcorn sales. He also stated that he did not recognize the young man who transferred 100,000 soums to his bank card.

Although the preventive inspector did not admit his guilt, his actions were confirmed by witness testimonies and other evidence.

By court ruling, Abdulaziz Abdullayev was found guilty under part 2 "a" of Article 210 of the Criminal Code (bribery). He was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to work in law enforcement agencies, with the sentence being conditional and a probation period of 3 years set.
