In Uzbekistan, legal entities are allowed to pay utility bills online through mobile applications. The relevant order of the chairman of the Central Bank's board has been registered by the Ministry of Justice.
According to it, an amendment was made to the regulation on the issuance and circulation of bank cards in Uzbekistan, approved by the decision of the Central Bank's board in April 2021.
Now, legal entities can make payments for electricity and natural gas using corporate bank cards in national currency through mobile applications.
The roadmap established by the presidential decree adopted in December 2024 specified the implementation of a system for making payments for electricity through corporate cards via mobile applications for legal entities. The Central Bank, the Ministry of Digital Technologies, "Regional Electric Networks," and "Hududgazta'minot" were tasked with developing a draft regulatory legal document.
The decree envisaged the possibility of paying off debts in installments instead of disconnecting debtors from the network. Amendments were made regarding payments for resources used in excess of the contractual amount during the accounting period in the rules for the use of electricity and gas.
