The State Security Service employees, in cooperation with customs authorities, conducted an operation at the "Navoi" border customs post located in the Tashkent district of Tashkent region.
During the operation, a "Lacetti" car moving towards a neighboring country was stopped, and upon inspection with the participation of witnesses, it was revealed that there was a plastic bag belonging to a citizen residing in the Tashkent district containing 874 thousand US dollars.
It was determined that he intended to transfer this amount of money to Kazakhstan without declaration and by hiding it from customs control.
Additionally, the operation continued, and it was found that this foreign currency was collected from individuals trading in the markets of Tashkent city and given to the woman – during the inspection of the temporary residence of a citizen living in the capital, it was also discovered that there was 399 thousand 170 US dollars prepared for future transfer to Kazakhstan.
During the conducted operation, a total of 1 million 273 thousand 170 US dollars was seized as physical evidence.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against these individuals under part 2, clause "a" of Article 25,182 of the Criminal Code, and a preventive measure of detention has been applied. Investigative actions are ongoing.
