With the start of the new academic year, cases of fraud related to real estate rentals have sharply increased in Tashkent city. This was reported by Upl.uz.
The capital's law enforcement agencies recommend that citizens approach house hunting with special caution to avoid falling victim to fraudsters. The scammers use a common scheme.
They post ads online offering apartments for rent at low prices and use photos of other people's homes. When potential tenants show interest, the criminals demand advance payment or a deposit.
After receiving the money, they immediately block the tenant on messengers and social networks, cutting off communication. The Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate strongly advises citizens to follow these simple but effective safety rules: never transfer money without seeing the apartment in person, do not send copies of your passport, ID card, or other personal information, and only sign the rental agreement after meeting the landlord in person.
By following these rules, it is possible to protect yourself from fraud.
