Legislation is planned to be strengthened in Uzbekistan to ensure safety in society and prevent offenses. This was reported by Upl.uz.
Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis approved at the first reading a draft law introducing new restrictions for individuals prone to violence. The main purpose of this document is to prohibit persons who have committed crimes related to domestic violence from purchasing weapons.
Additionally, the draft law provides for the temporary confiscation of existing weapons from citizens who have committed violence against children. Furthermore, the document strengthens liability for repeated offenses related to carrying illegal cold weapons in public places.
According to official data, such incidents have sharply increased recently. Another important change concerns individuals suffering from diseases related to narcotic substances.
The draft law proposes directing those who have been held administratively liable at least once based on a court decision to compulsory treatment. Deputies believe that the adoption of this draft law will help prevent crimes, improve the criminal environment in neighborhood areas, and effectively protect the lives and health of citizens.
