A 106-year-old man in Great Britain openly shared one of the key factors for his longevity. This was reported by Upl.uz.
World War II veteran Leslie Lemon recently emphasized in an interview with The Mirror that consuming a special dessert as part of his daily diet is the foundation of his health. He revealed that using custard is the most important factor in maintaining his health.
Leslie Lemon was born on July 1, 1919, and recently celebrated his latest birthday. He spoke in detail about his eating habits, stating that custard is a regular part of his main menu.
He usually buys this custard from the store. Among his favorite foods are rhubarb grown in his garden and trifle desserts enriched with cream.
According to Lemon, the secret to his long life lies in the custard. He consumes this dessert cold every day.
At the same time, he does not suffer from any chronic illnesses and does not regularly take medication. He rarely seeks medical assistance.
His family members, including eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, confirm that despite his age, he is in very good physical condition. His family states that fish and chips, a classic British dish, is second in his diet.
His younger son, 73-year-old Richard, confirms that his parents' eating habits have been maintained for many years. He recalls that they always consumed fresh fruits and vegetables during his childhood.
Richard mentions that his parents always believed in eating pudding, and Leslie always consumed custard. Leslie Lemon's unique health and longevity have not only attracted media attention.
When he turned 100 in 2019, he was gifted a personalized custard container. Additionally, he received several congratulatory letters from the royal family.
He received congratulations from Queen Elizabeth II when he turned 100, and from King Charles and Queen Camilla when he turned 105 and 106. Also, one of the local companies gifted him a large quantity of his favorite dessert.
Leslie Lemon's wife, Doreen, was married to him since 1944 and passed away in 1999. He views life with peace and contentment.
"Everything should be moderate. I am very lucky and happy," he says.
At the same time, he admits that modern technologies are not very close to him. In particular, video calls seem complicated to him, and he states that he is somewhat old-fashioned.
Custard powder was invented in England by Alfred Bird in 1837. This invention arose due to his wife's egg allergy, as eggs are an integral part of the classic custard recipe.
With Bird's invention, it became possible to prepare a dessert based on corn starch.
