Recently, a warm meeting between the Khatirchi district governor Umidjon Adizov and a group of individuals belonging to the Jewish nationality living in the Navoiy region has sparked extensive discussions on social networks. This was reported by Upl.uz.
In response, the Khatirchi district administration issued an official statement. The statement emphasized that the Jews visiting Khatirchi are considered our ancient compatriots.
In Uzbekistan, representatives of more than 130 nationalities and ethnic groups, as well as 16 official religious denominations, are active. Among them are the Jewish communities.
The foreign Jews who came to Khatirchi are mainly Bukhara Jews, who have been searching for their roots for many years. These guests came to study the historical and cultural heritage of the area where their ancestors lived and to visit places that are sacred to them.
The meeting with the district governor was organized to showcase the hospitality and tolerance of the Uzbek people. This was highlighted in the statement from the press service of the administration.
