An unusual heat condition observed in the capital has attracted widespread public attention. This was reported by Upl.uz.
A video material captured by a passenger of the Tashkent metro quickly spread on social media. In it, the passenger warned about the lack of ventilation in the train cars and the high air temperature.
This incident forced the Tashkent metro administration to issue an official statement. The statement explained the reasons for the problem that arose and provided information about the planned measures to address it.
According to data in the transport sector, a stable and significant increase in passenger flow has been observed in recent years. This is related to the expansion of the city area and the commissioning of new stations.
In such a situation, systematic measures are necessary to increase transport capacity and improve service quality. Over the past five years, 41 modern trains have been purchased for the needs of the metro.
This has allowed for the renewal of more than half of the 36 old trains, mainly from the Soviet era. The new trains differ fundamentally from those previously used.
They are equipped with air conditioning and heating systems, which are considered standard for modern urban transport. However, the train shown in the video belongs to an old series that has been in use for decades.
The administration emphasizes that the design of these cars is not adapted for air conditioning installation, and retrofitting them is technically impossible. Despite the problems associated with the old trains, the renewal process is ongoing.
Another 14 new trains are planned to be purchased in 2025-2026. Each train will consist of four cars and is intended to enhance service on the busiest routes.
As of July 18, 2025, preparations for the delivery of new trains have begun. This process includes agreeing on technical specifications, determining logistics routes, and preparing the depot.
Thus, the issue of eliminating inconveniences for passengers during the summer season will be fully resolved within the next two years. The old trains will gradually be phased out.
The Tashkent metro was opened in 1977 and is the first metro in Central Asia. Many of its stations are masterpieces of art and architecture, each decorated based on a unique theme.
For example, the "Cosmonauts" station is dedicated to space, while the "Alisher Navoi" station is dedicated to the works of the great poet.
