Real Madrid has not given up on its plan to buy Liverpool's central defender Ibrahima Konate during the current transfer window. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Earlier, the club hoped to wait until next year and have the French player join the team as a free agent after his contract with the "Reds" expires. According to Defensa Central, the "royal" team is offering 25 million euros to buy the 26-year-old player this month.
However, so far the parties have not reached an agreement, as Liverpool is asking for 40 million euros for the player. Transfermarkt experts estimate Ibrahima Konate's value at 60 million euros.
The defender has played a total of 134 games for Liverpool, scoring five goals and providing four assists. Negotiations between the club and the player are ongoing, but no definite agreement has been reached yet.
The Madrid club aims to strengthen the team by adding Konate to their squad this season.
