Girona's official website announced that the 25-year-old Moroccan footballer has joined from the club Marseille. Girona signed a five-year contract with Unay, which is valid until June 30, 2030.

Earlier, there were reports in the media that Azzedin Unay refused to transfer to Moscow's Spartak club. According to data from the Transfermarkt portal, Girona paid six million euros to Marseille for Unay.

Azzedin Unay has played 40 matches for the Morocco national team. The midfielder participated in all matches of the 2022 World Cup, including the third-place playoff.
