
Moscow’s Spartak football club CEO Oleg Malyishev announced that the Russian Ministry of Sport is reviewing a new draft decision on limiting the number of legionnaires and is preparing to implement it. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He emphasized that the club management is awaiting clear decisions regarding this project. Malyishev also stated that great attention is being paid to the development of Spartak’s players.
Earlier, it was reported that a meeting was held with clubs of the Russian Professional Football League, during which the ministry expressed its position. The meeting discussed how the new restrictions will be introduced and their impact.
So far, there is no information about the exact schedule or when the new rules will be implemented. Russian Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyaryov said that a decision has been made to gradually reduce the number of legionnaires.
In the future, all clubs will be allowed to have ten legionnaires in their applications and five legionnaires playing on the field simultaneously. This decision is aimed at developing local players and strengthening the sports industry.
