Former Manchester City sporting director Txiki Begiristain recalled how Josep Guardiola's career began in England. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The Spanish coach joined the "Citizens" as head coach in the summer of 2016. Begiristain, however, had joined the club much earlier, in the autumn of 2012.
They had previously worked together at Barcelona. According to Begiristain, initially many believed that Guardiola's style of football would not succeed in England.
They thought, "You cannot win here without strong defense because this is not Spain." But Guardiola conquered the entire league with his style.
Txiki Begiristain left Manchester City last summer. Under Guardiola's leadership, the team won the Premier League six times.
These achievements further solidified his position in English football.
