Danil Glebov, the midfielder of the Dinamo team, shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with Euro-Futbol.ru about his first call-up to the national team and the upcoming friendly BetBoom matches. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Speaking about the Jordan national team, he noted that this team is of a good level, tries to apply pressure, and is physically strong. He also compared Jordan to the Iran national team and said it will be an interesting match.
Regarding the Qatar national team, he recalled playing against them a few years ago, describing the team as composed of fast and technical players. Although the styles of the Jordan and Qatar national teams differ, he emphasized that matches against both will be challenging. Danil Glebov recalled that his first call-up to the national team happened during the World Cup qualifying match against Slovakia.
Although he was not initially called up, he was invited as a replacement for Denis Glushakov, who got injured. For this reason, he added that he canceled his dentist appointment.
His first impressions of the national team were warm; he met familiar players like Osipenko and Ionov there. When asked about rules and discipline in the team, the player emphasized the necessity to maintain discipline and adhere to training, just like in the club.
The national team captains were Smolov, Golovin, and Miranchuk; he mentioned occasionally meeting them but said they are not close friends. His debut match was in Saint Petersburg against Cyprus, where he played for more than twenty minutes. He stressed that the level of play in the national team is higher than in the club, and it is a great honor for him.
He said that as a child, he dreamed of playing for the national team, and when the opportunity arose, he felt great joy and excitement. He did not anticipate being called up in advance; if called, it’s good, if not, he needs to work harder.
He enjoys being in the national team, where there is a good atmosphere and he likes meeting players from other championships. He recalled that Matvey Safonov recently became a Champions League winner and said he did not ask much about him but is happy about such success.
Although Safonov’s playing time in the championship is limited, participating in training helps improve his football skills, he emphasized. The interview was conducted by Yuliya Grigoryevskaya.
