Franco Kamocci, formerly an advisor to the owner of the Spartak team, shared his views on the tightening of the foreign player limit in the Russian Premier League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyaryov announced that starting from the 2028/2029 season, Premier League clubs will not be allowed to register more than 10 foreign players per season or field more than 5 foreign players on the pitch at the same time. The new "10+5" formula is much stricter compared to the current "13+8".
According to Kamocci, reducing the number of foreign players will lead to positive changes. He emphasized that clubs will stop calling up foreign players by chance and the quality level of foreign footballers will improve.
Additionally, Russian young players will have more opportunities to play on the field due to the new restriction. This will help them gain experience and develop.
Kamocci stressed that the new restriction will help raise the overall level of the Premier League. Overall, the reduction in the number of foreign players is expected to improve the quality of national football.
