Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyaryov responded to UEFA President Aleksandr Ceferin's comments about the possibility of Russia returning to the international arena. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The head of European football previously acknowledged that he was against teams being banned from international competitions, but emphasized that there had been political pressures on him. According to Degtyaryov, Ceferin's recent statements are encouraging.
He said that Russia should return to Europe in the field of football. Russian football has more experience precisely in Europe, and cooperation with UEFA is important.
Earlier, the Russian Football Federation considered joining the Asian Confederation, but ultimately decided to return to Europe. Since 2022, Russian clubs have not participated in European competitions, and the national team has only been allowed to play friendly matches.
Recently, the team led by Valery Karpin drew with the Jordan national team in Moscow.
