Bavaria tried to purchase Yamal in 2022

Several years ago, the "Bavaria" team tried to add wing-back Lamin Yamal to their squad. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

The Goal portal, citing the Bild publication, reported this. According to the source, in 2022, representatives of "Bavaria" held secret meetings with Ivan de la Penya in Madrid.

Ivan de la Penya is considered Lamin Yamal's former agent. The plan of the Munich team was to bring the player's family to Germany, wait for Lamin to turn 16, and provide a compensation payment of about 5 million euros.

According to the "Bavaria" management, they had an advantage while other European clubs had not yet fully realized Lamin's talent. However, the contract was not finalized at the last stage because the famous agent Jorge Mendes intervened.

Mendes became Lamin's agent and dashed "Bavaria"'s hopes of purchasing the player. Later, the "Barcelona" team quickly integrated Lamin into the main squad, accelerating his development.
